History of Asantemankuo of Denver
Asantemankuo of Denver Metro is a nonprofit organization based in Aurora, Colorado, dedicated to promoting the well-being of its members and the broader Ghanaian community in the Denver metropolitan area. Established on June 24, 2019, the organization operates from its principal address at 1951 S Mobile St, Aurora, CO 80013.
The association is part of the Asanteman Council of North America (ACONA), which serves as the umbrella organization for key Asanteman associations across the United States and Canada. ACONA aims to unite Asante communities, preserve cultural heritage, and contribute to the socio-economic development of Asanteman and Ghana.
In line with these objectives, Asantemankuo of Denver Metro has been actively involved in various community support initiatives. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization provided financial assistance to elderly and sick members, supported bereaved families, and extended aid to those affected by the pandemic within the community.
As a registered nonprofit, Asantemankuo of Denver Metro is committed to fostering unity among its members, preserving Asante cultural values, and supporting both local and international communities through various charitable activities.
Our Constitution
PREAMBLE
We the sons and daughters of Asantemankuo and sympathizers residents in the State of Colorado, being aware of our traditions, customs, cultural heritage, and our social and development needs in pursuit of happiness, economic and social progress and peace with all mankind, commit ourselves to this Association and do hereby adopt, enact, and give to ourselves this Constitution as the supreme governing law of Asantemankuo.
Article One
Name of the Association
The name of the association shall be called Asantemankuo of Denver Metro, Colorado, hereinafter referred to as "Asanteman", and shall be recognized as such and its registered office shall be in Denver metro area, in the state of Colorado, USA.
Article Two
Aims and Objectives
The aims and objectives of the Asantemankuo of Denver Metro, Colorado shall be
Section I: To Unite and bring all members together regularly and create a better relationship among members.
Section II: To promote social, moral, educational, and the general welfare of its members and their dependants and social networking and support for the members.
Section III: Provide a source of cultural enrichment and promote interest, inform, and educate the general community about Asante Culture.
Section IV: Organize periodic workshops to educate members on pertinent issues, such as Asante's culture, legal, immigration; health, employment, insurance, and investments.
Section V: To support Asanteman development projects by motivating and educating members to financially support educational, health and other social programs in the U.S., Asante and Ghana.
Section VI: To create a better relationship between "Asanteman" and the community by engaging in voluntary services in the community and to work closely with Rocky Mountain Ghana Council.
Section VII: To work in collaboration with Asanteman Council Of North America (ACONA) and Asante Congress in Ghana to achieve its aim of promoting unity and development in Asante and Ghana.
Section VIII: To ensure that no partisan politics be allowed to divide and destroy Asanteman. The Association shall always be neutral on all political activities.
Section IX: To engage in charitable activities in cooperation with other charitable organizations in the US, Africa and Ghana.
Section X: Project good image of Asante Kingdom in the Denver Metro Area
Section XI: Contribute to the development of the Denver Metro Area and Colorado community by performing voluntary services
Article Three
Membership
Section I: Asanteman membership is open to the Asante citizens, and the general public who are willing to uphold and defend the constitution and actively participate in the affairs of the Asanteman.
Section II: Any person, as described above, upon completion of an application form, payment of the registration fee and monthly dues and other accessed financial obligations payable to the treasurer of Asantemankuo shall become a member.
Section III: Child/Children of members who are under fifteen (15) years of age shall be classified as Associate Members until the attainment of 18 year maturity age. Such children when matured shall have the option of becoming full members of the Association.
